MSG makes us fat
Here's one of the reasons why eating processed foods and junk foods ends up backfiring in the long run for permanent weight loss: MSG (mono-sodium glutamate) actually scars the hypothalamus in your brain. Why should we care? The hypothalamus regulates your feelings of satiety and your appetite. When it becomes damaged, you're no longer able to feel satisfied from the foods you eat and you're constantly hungry. On top of all of that, the taste of MSG is highly addictive, making other flavors seem bland. This is yet another reason why folks get "addicted" to junk food...
Believe me! Food manufacturors know all about this. They don't care about our health, they want to sell us a product that we'll keep coming back for...sort of sounds like cigarettes! For more information, read all about it on the Health Ranger's website: Natural News. There's more information about the negative effects of MSG and its link to the obesity epidemic on the Weston A. Price website.
Here's the take-away: Those Progresso soups that promote their low Weight Watcher's point value? They are full of MSG...sure they might be low calorie, but if you eat them on a daily basis, you'll scar your brain, become addicted, and feel constantly hungry. That doesn't sound like much fun at all!
Also be on the look-out for MSG in disguise: hydrolyzed vegetable protein, sodium caseinate, aginomoto, autolyzed yeast extract, soy protein extract, and natural meat tenderizer are all various ways of labeling MSG.
Remember, if you can't pronounce it, or you're not really sure what the heck it is....Don't Eat It!!! Real Food Nutrition will never lead you astray...
